QUESTIONS

The things parents ask

If yours is not here, write to us and we will answer it and then add it.

Making a book

How long does one take?

About ten minutes of your attention. Answering the questions takes a few minutes, the story is written while you wait, and the pictures take a few more minutes after you approve the words. You can close the app and come back, the book waits.

What ages is it for?

Roughly three to twelve. The age you set changes the sentence length, the vocabulary, how much happens on a page, how much tension the story is allowed, and how many pictures there are.

Can I fix it if the story is wrong?

Yes, and before it costs anything. You read the whole text before a single picture exists, and you can rewrite any of it, change what a picture should show, or start again.

Which languages?

English, Dutch, German, French, Spanish, Italian and Polish. Stories are written in the language you choose rather than translated into it, and the app itself speaks all seven.

Will my child look like herself?

She will recognise herself. The characters are drawn from your descriptions and photos as illustrations rather than portraits, so it is a girl like her rather than her face. Face-matching a real child is something we chose not to do.

Money

What does it cost?

Nothing at the moment. Payments are not switched on, all three plans are open, and there is no card on file to charge.

So what is the catch?

That it is beta software from a small company, and some of it is unfinished. We would rather have you in early and be honest about the rough edges than polish in private.

Do I lose my books when you start charging?

No. Books you have made stay readable, downloadable and shareable regardless of what plan you are on afterwards.

Children, photos and voices

Do my children need accounts?

No, and they cannot have one. Only adults sign in. Children exist as profiles you created, with no login and no email address.

What happens to photos I upload?

They are used to write and draw the book and then deleted, unless you tick the box to keep them. They are never used to train anything, and they never appear in the finished book, which is drawn.

Is a recorded voice safe?

It is only made after the person it belongs to states that they agree, and that is stored with it. Deleting it removes it from us and from the company that hosts it. It is never shared with another family.

Can other people see our books?

Only if you send them a link or publish a story on purpose. A published story uses a name you choose instead of your child's real one, and memory books cannot be published at all.

The app itself

Is there an iPhone or Android app?

Not yet. Infinight runs in the browser on a phone, a tablet or a computer, and you can add it to your home screen. Proper app-store versions are planned.

Can I read offline?

Download the book as an EPUB or a PDF and it is yours, on an e-reader or anywhere else, with no connection needed.

Can I print one?

You can print the PDF at home today. Ordering a bound copy is built but waiting on payments, which is the next thing we are doing.

Can both parents use one library?

Yes. Invite the other adults in the house and everyone reaches the same shelf.

Tonight's story could have her name in it

It takes about ten minutes to make the first one, and you keep it whether or not you ever pay us a cent.

No card, no password. One book to keep, whatever you decide after.
